Heritage Open Days: Everyday Quaker Life. September 2026
Kendal’s Grade II* listed Quaker Meeting House will be open for visitors to experience a ‘mini’ Meeting for Worship, see the Quaker Tapestry (much of which focuses on everyday Quaker life) and to explore the building and Peace garden.
Following a brief introduction, ‘mini’ Meetings for Worship will take place, see where and how Quaker worship takes place and find out more about Quaker everyday life. Visitors will then have opportunity to view the Quaker Tapestry, a series of embroidered panels showing us how Quakers beliefs have shaped our world today; scientific and industrial revolutions, social reform, peace and the abolition of slavery. The Meeting House is a beautiful building to explore and you can relax in the walled Peace Garden.
Friends Meeting House, Peace Garden and Quaker Tapestry exhibition are open 10:00-16:00 on Wednesday 16th September and 13:00-16:00 on Sunday 20th September. Mini Meetings for Worship are on Wednesday 16th September at 10:30, 11:30 and 14:00.
